Birthday Parties that Give Back and Teach Children Values
On Saturday I facilitated a birthday party for a little girl turning 6 years old. She and her friends had a great time making stuffed toy elephants and dogs that would later be donated to the Children’s Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Bear Necessities . The kids had fun while learning about a good cause and the importance of giving back.
To get the message to the kids, we talked about what makes them feel good when they don’t feel well. The kids had a great discussion about all the things that make them feel better and this got them excited to help the kids in the hospital who are not feeling well. The children were excited to give away their stuffed animals at the end of the party along with personalized notes with wishes for the kids to enjoy with their new toys.

A wish from one child to another.
Now, I just can’t wait to donate these animals!
Update…
I delivered the stuffed animals to Bear Necessities yesterday. The organization was thrilled to receive the toys that they will include in kits that their clients will get when they are first diagnosed. The kits usually include a little teddy bear and it will be even more special to for the kids to receive a stuffed animal made especially for them from another child who is wishing them well and rooting for their recovery.

Delivering the stuffed animals!
