Google finally confirms the backdoor for Android Smartphone security

According to a report, which was posted earlier this year by Forbes, how a Trojan for banking called Triada has been found in some brand new budget smartphones. Google has come out and confirmed that the Android smartphones were somehow compromised with the installation of a backdoor as a supply chain attack.

To get a clear understanding, we need to visit back to 2016 when Kaspersky Lab researchers showed that they were one of the most dangerous and advanced mobile Trojans available in the market now. The Trojan was named ‘Triada’ and it was also explained how the Random Access Memory of the smartphone also known as the RAM is now using root privileges to replace all the system files with malicious ones.

This story evolved with the Triada malware in the summer of 2017. Researchers can figure out that instead of relying on the rooted smartphone for elevated privileges, the threat actor has ended up getting moved to advanced attack methodologies.

Researchers have found that the Android framework log function has been called. The device which has been infected has a backdoor installed in them. Every time, an application attempts to log in a function is run in the backdoor. The Triada has the power of executing any kind of code in any application context.

Google has not been very vocal about this problem. The security team of Google ended up posting this problem in a blog. The blog helped people fill up the missing blanks of the puzzle and get a clear understanding of the situation.

According to Siewierski, the android system is basically infected by a third party during the procedure of production. Whenever any device manufacturer desired to add new features the code is not generally a part of the open source project. Face ID is a perfect example in this case, which helps in engaging the third party to develop an entire system image with the help of the developer process.

Google says that

“by working with the OEMs and supplying them with instructions for removing the threat from devices, we reduced the spread of pre-installed Triada variants and removed infections from the devices through the over-the-air (OTA) updates.”

Siewierski adds that Google is now performing a security review of system images, with Triada indicators of compromise being one of a number of signatures that are included in the scan. Google Play Protect also tracks, and removes, Triada and any related apps it detects on user devices.

A camera application which can automatically remove people from different photos

As a misanthrope who is living in a vibrant city people are never short of things to complain about. The main problem that people face when taking a picture in a crowded city is that people end up appearing and crowding the photo. This problem of people coming into the photo is not a problem anymore. A new application called the Bye Bye Camera has become very popular which helps people to remove unwanted people from a photograph.

Something like this was very needed because now people can click better photographs without having any unwanted people in the background of the photograph. This was not an easy thing to do but the company can complete this application smoothly. The application is very effective and people are really happy that something like this is finally available in the market.

The new app, Damjanski told Artnome, is:

“an app for the post-human era… The app takes out the vanity of any selfie and also the person.”

Fortunately, it leaves dogs intact.

The whole procedure is done in a self-conscious arty way. It is important to understand that if humans are necessary for the picture or not. If they are not necessary, then they will have removed in no time at all.

The main technology that By Bye Camera works on is Artificial intelligence which is already available for taking in the world of research. The application ends up using YOLO which stands for You Only Look Once which is a very effective object classifier and can also detect humans in a short period of time. There is a very similar tool in Adobe which is scaled context aware fill. That is also done with the help of Artificial Intelligence. You can delete people from any picture you took and the background will be filled keeping the background in mind.

The results have been mixed because there have been times when the Artificial Intelligence was not very effective in nature and the image background was not filled in a proper manner.

Schematic Tips Quad Rear Camera, Hole Punch Display Leaked By Huawei Nova 5i pro

Huawei Nova 5i pro has been introduced on the web through a schematic that suggests that it has a quad rear camera set-up. Along with that, the phone is also known to have a hole-punch display design. Huawei Nova 5i pro has been leaked just after the launch of Huawei Nova 5 pro and 5 in an event in China last week. Huawei Nova 5i pro is soon going to join the 5 series in the coming days. However, the specifications and the price of the phone is yet to be made public. The smartphone was also listed on JD.com before the launch of the Nova 5 series. However, if we are to believe the latest leak made by the company then the image tagged in the e-commerce listing is incorrect.

Huawei Nova 5i pro design and display

Tipster Evan Blass, who is popular for leaking unannounced products has recently posted on his Twitter account about the new Huawei Nova 5i pro. The image posted by him clearly shows that the smartphone has four camera sensors at the back. The camera sensors are assembled in a square module which looks similar to the camera setup of Mate 20 pro. The phone also comes with a fingerprint and LED flash sensor at the back of the phone.

The back of the Nova 5i pro is different from Nova 5i. Apart from that, the schematic shows that the front of the Nova 5i pro has a hole-punch earpiece and display. Along with that, the phone is also known to come with a power key and volume rocker. In addition, the smartphone is also equipped with a headphone jack and a USB port as well.

The company has not made any announcement yet regarding the launch of its smartphone Nova 5i pro. However, the smartphone is found listed on JD.com earlier this week. It is expected that the company is soon going to launch its new phone in the coming future. Now, all we can do is wait for the smartphone to be released.

Harry Potter Wizards Unite Already Got $400K Downloads and $300K consumer spend in UK and US

After the grand success of Pokemon Go, Niantic is back with its next hit Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The game is off to a good start, however, it is still far from breaking Pokemon Go records. According to Sensor Tower, the new game has been downloaded about 400,000 times in the first 24 hours of its launch in the UK and US. The gross player spending in these markets has also hit around $300,000 across both android and iOS platforms.

The game is also launched in New Zealand and Australia during a pre-launch beta trail of sorts. The game is going to be made available to worldwide users on a country-by-country basis. According to Sensor Tower, the game during its beta test period grossed around $80,000.

But in the same number of days, Pokemon Go had reached $1.6 million in these two markets.

After the launch of the game in the US, it took around 15 hours for the game to reach the number 1 spot in the iOS app store. In comparison to Pokemon Go, this is quite slow. Pokemon Go hit the no.1 post immediately after its launch. It was also downloaded 7.5 million times in the US in the first 24 hours. Also, it didn’t take 7 days for it to reach the UK.

From the given statistics, it is clear that the demand for the game is quite low in comparison to Pokemon Go. There could be so many factors contributing to this. Pokemon Go had a huge fan base and was also a much-anticipated game. Also, it was based on the use of AR.

On the other hand, Harry Potter too has its huge fan base active but the users already had many other games to play before this.
