When you play your favorite online video games, it is common to wonder how the developers create them, right?
Well, a recent partial leak of Grand Theft Auto 5’s source code gives interested gamers a peek into what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to game development, especially one as popular as GTA.
The partial leak comes from a random user but despite the leak, most GTA gamers are confused as to what a common person would do or benefit from having access to the source code.
This isn’t the first time that the source code of a game has been leaked to the public. The same thing happened last year when the source code for Cyberpunk 2077 was leaked as well. Being wary of impromptu leaks is a developer’s worst nightmare.
Given the kind of name and popularity that the GTA franchise has, it isn’t surprising that the game has been under a lot of threat and scrutiny over the years. Just recently, some early content from GTA 6 was leaked, leaving potential gamers in shock and astonishment.
The hacker who published the recent leak pleaded not guilty to the situation. However, the game’s publisher, Take-Two has taken to their official platforms to declare that the leak has, in no way, affected the game’s overall progress and development.
But, while GTA is recuperating from the initial leak of GTA 6, looks like things are going out of hand for the franchise because now they have a partial leak of the GTA 5 source code.
As per the recent leak, a list of .sch files has been made available to the public, citing a part of the game’s source code. But, then again, further reports from the leak also suggest that this information won’t benefit the public.
So, what’s the point?
The files are still available online for people to download and access across multiple social media platforms. If you are sitting there wondering, a quick Twitter search should give you access to the same.
Given that GTA 5 is one of the most popular renditions in the franchise, it isn’t surprising that hackers are hell-bent on leaking some parts of the game. We can be assured that the partial code that’s going around on the internet will soon be taken down by the game’s administration before further exploitation.
