About the Founders

College Hunks Hauling Junk was founded by Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman. Although the two of them have pretty different educational backgrounds, they were childhood best friends and wanted to explore their luck at starting a business of their own.

Omar got early training in marketing and business administration when he was only 10 years old. During that period, Omar was working at his mother’s business and helping her out.

With that initial interest in business, Omar later enrolled at the University of Miami, where he acquires a degree in business administration. Nick graduated from Pomona College.

Founding College Hunks Hauling Junk

Since Omar helped out his mother with her furniture business, he would often have the customers pay him to haul the furniture from the store to their vehicles. Omar found this to be a lucrative business opportunity and even onboarded Nick to help him out.

Later in 2004, Omar unlocked the jackpot by winning $10,000, which he invested into launching his own moving and junk removal business, College Hunks Hailing Junk. At first, they only focused on hauling the junk and later ventured into becoming a moving company.

Shark Tank Appearance

With the kind of success that the company acquired, it made sense for Omar and Nick to take their start-up to Shark Tank. They pitched for their franchise brand, College Foxes Packing Boxes. The two founders asked for $250,000 for 25% of the company.

There was a lot of back and forth until Robert Herjavec asked for 50% of Foxes and 10% of Hunks for $250,000. The founders didn’t like the stake they were offered and they rejected the deal and went home empty-handed.

After Shark Tank

Good thing that the founders didn’t close the deal because College Hunks Hauling Junk now has a valuation of over $200+ million. Besides offering the staple services, the company has now diversified with 150+ franchises too.

Walking on the success of this company, Omar and Nick also started another company named Trash Butler, which is a famous valet trash service. Even this company turned out to be a huge success for the founders, bringing them multimillion dollars in revenue.

It looks like both Omar and Nike are going to make their impression in the trash-collecting niche in no time at all.
