What are the Fear Street movies and where to watch them?
If you are acquainted with the plot and theme of the books, you would know that the Fear Street trilogy follows the story in a flashback fashion. Given that, it can be argued that the best way to watch the movies would be in reverse order of their release.
However, if you were to follow the chronological order of the release dates of the movies, the experience would be far more enriching. So, here are the Fear Street movies in order.
- Fear Street Part One: 1994 (July 2, 2021)
- Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (July 9, 2021)
- Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (July 16, 2021)
Let us take a look at the movies in brief. You can also get to know which platform to get on to watch these movies.
1. Fear Street Part One: 1994 (July 2, 2021)
Heather Watkins, a bookstore employee at the Shadyside Mall, is one of the prime victims of Ryan Torres. Ryan is known to have stabbed Heather as well as many of their other friends. He is eventually eliminated but Shadyside has already been dubbed as the murder capital of the US by the media and the news spreads.
A rumor about the curse of Sarah Fier comes to the foreground and is strongly believed to be the cause behind the wrong-goings in the town. Sarah Fier was believed to be a witch and was executed in the town context.
The movie is available on Netflix. You can watch the film online there.
2. Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (July 9, 2021)
Even though the second installment was released a week after the first movie the events of the movie are set in the year of 1978, almost 2 decades earlier than the time frame in which the first movie was set.
The cast of the movie changes this time but it’s still focused on a group of teenagers. They need to be and remain united to survive the murderous intentions of the possessed counselor. The horrible curse that sits on the city compels its citizens to commit murders. The only way to stop that from happening is to kill the killer, who is possessed before they set off on their killing spree.
You can watch this movie on Netflix.
3. Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (July 16, 2021)
This is the final installment of the trilogy as of yet. This movie makes a return to the first film. When Sarah Fier’s hand is reunited with her body, events start to stir. Deena experiences a disturbing insight into Sarah’s life and her experiences during her lifetime.
We get to see why exactly Sarah was the way she was portrayed in history. We also get to see how the curse of Sarah came to be. The movie unfolds rather a tragic backstory of a villain and shows the origin story. It is best to maintain this order of the movies as that way you have all the events that occurred as a result of the fate of Sarah Fier to analyze the entire situation in a much more adept manner.
This movie is available on Netflix and you can watch it online from there.
Who is who in the Fear Street Trilogy?
The cast of Fear Street is a brilliant one. Even though many of the faces recur in other shows as well the actors were able to keep their performances authentic. While characters may die young in the films, the art of the actors’ representation is meant to live on.
Based on the teen horror series written by R.L. Stine, the Fear Street Trilogy is a must-watch for horror show lovers. The actors did an impressive job of bringing the terror on screen to life. You might have even seen many of these actors in various other shows as well. For instance, Sadie Sink as Ziggy and Maya Hawke, who plays Heather the bookstore employee, would be facing that you recognize from the series Stranger Things. Again, some actors may be recognized from the old days of The Underground Railroad and The Irishman.
Let us then take a look at the people who made it possible for the films to have such an impact even on the fans who had already read the book.
- Deena Johnson (Played by Kiana Madeira)
She is one of the main characters and Kiana plays her beautifully. She is a bit outspoken and quite a bit confident. As the plot of the movie unfurls this particular character along with the actor who plays the part goes on to make up an indispensable part of the trilogy.
