Finding and Buying a PS5 is Going to be Easier This Year

If you are a gaming fanatic, you know the craze surrounding PS5 and what it brings along for the people. However, buying a PS5 is an expensive investment.

Estimations from Sony suggests that the company is forecasting around 18 million in PS5 sale this year, which is expected to be a lot more this year around as the supply issues are gradually improving around the world.

If you have been tracing the market for a PlayStation 5 but haven’t been able to get your hands on one yet, this could be the year things change drastically. Sony has reported that they are preparing to sell a lot more units of PS5 in this fiscal year.

These projections are predominantly made by the brand with hopes that things will steady down and the supply issues with eventually improve along the way. This will pave the way for uninterrupted manufacturing and sales. However, nothing at this point is 100% guaranteed.

During one of the latest investors’ briefings by Sony, the company reported that they expect to sell over 18 million PS5 consoles in this fiscal year. The report was presented from the company’s “visibility into parts procurement.”

In the last fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2022, Sony sold around 11.5 million PS5 consoles on a global scale. The numbers were 7.8 million in 2021. So, with the estimated rise in the sales with each year, estimating a total of 18 million in sales in the fiscal year of 2022-23 is not a bad one at all.

Reports suggest that up until now in 2022, Sony has sold around 2 million PS5 consoles, which is pretty low compared to the last year’s numbers, which stood at 3.5 million.

To achieve the projected 18 million PS5 sales, Sony has to actively sell 4.5 million PS5 consoles in each quarter. Despite the ongoing supply issues, Sony is still firm on their belief that they would be able to score the kind of sales they are aiming for, which is around 18 million.

Despite the optimism shown by Sony regarding the sales, it looks like the current projection isn’t as clear on the other front. Reports are suggesting that the supply chain issues will extend till 2024.

While Sony might be having a much high forecast of PS5 sales at this point, we wouldn’t know how things pan out until the end of the fiscal year.
