Pablo Escobar was born on December 01, 1949 in Rionegro, Colombia. He was named Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria at birth and grew up alongside his seven siblings. He was born in a humble family where his father worked as a farmer and his mother worked as a teacher.

Despite being born in Rionegro, Pablo was raised in Medellin, which is where he started his drug cartel. However, his career didn’t start with drugs. Instead, he used to sell gravestones to the local salespeople there.

He started his drug operation by buying cocaine paste, which he refined in-house. From there, he would hire registered pilots to help him smuggle the drugs.

He was operating his drug business during the 80s when there was a heightened demand for cocaine. During that period, Pablo’s drug cartel was also dominating 80% of the cocaine market. He was racking up $240 million per week during that period.
