About the Founder
Weedsniper is the brainchild of Omid Rad, a single father, who was set on developing a way that would make eliminating weed from the lawns an easy task.
It took Omid 10+ years to not only master the design of the product but also create the final prototype of the product. There’s not a lot of public information about Omid besides the fact that he is a single father and manages things by himself.
Founding Weedsniper
Weedsniper is a weed-killer dispenser. If you are sitting there confused as to what the product is all about, let us give you a rundown.
With the standard weed killer dispensers that we have in the market, the chemical they dispense is generally harmful to the plants in the close vicinity. Weedsniper was created with the idea to make the process of chemical dispensing a lot more precise.
The design includes a small container, which contains the chemical that is directly focused on the weed to kill it. It doesn’t harm the plants growing nearby. It took Omid 10+ years to come up with the design and even cost him 600,000 Australian dollars to make things work.
On Shark Tank
Following coming up with the product, Omid wanted to scale his business, which is why he went on Shark Tank. On the show, Omid asked for AU $175,000 for 7.5% of the company.
Pretty much all the sharks were impressed with the product and wanted to associate with it. Two counter deals were offered. One was by Steve Baxter, who offered the asked amount of 33%, and the second was by Andrew Banks who asked for 30% initially and changed to 25%.
However, at last, Glen Richards offered the asked amount for 15% of the company, to which Omid agreed.
After Shark Tank
Their deal went through and this provided Omid the kickstart it needed to further grow the brand as a whole. At present, the company has an estimated net worth of $5 million. Besides that, the company has also contributed significantly to the overall sales and they seem to be doing quite well with their annual turnover and revenue.
Besides the Australian market, the company has also extrapolated their business to the U.S. market, where they are receiving a good response from the customers. Omid is now set to make Weedsniper available in different parts of Europe.
