WhatsApp Communities is Finally Live – Here’s What You Need to Know
Over the years and ever since its inception, WhatsApp has become our primary mode of communication. There have been several new features added and removed from this app and Meta has been continually working to introduce the latest technological improvements too.
In recent news, Meta CEO and founder, Mark Zuckerberg reported that they are rolling out a plethora of new features for WhatsApp.
Besides the brand-new WhatsApp Communities, Zuckerberg also confirmed that users will now be able to add up to 1024 people in a group and also engage in a 32-ways video calling experience. All of this sounds too good to be true, right?
Upon addressing the launch of the new WhatsApp Communities feature, Zuckerberg highlighted that the primary objective behind launching this feature is to enable multiple sub-groups, announcement channels, and a lot more.
The best thing about these new updates is that the messages and all these new features are end-to-end encrypted to ensure optimal safety and security of the individual users.
The announcement about the WhatsApp Community feature was made earlier this year and with the feature now ready, it is going to be rolled out to the users pretty soon. There will be a lot of stipulations in the process, enabling a single company to have multiple groups and manage them better as well.
Not just for professional use, reports suggest that the inclusion of WhatsApp Community will also come in handy for educational institutions to maintain parent-teacher groups for easy communication whenever needed.
The new WhatsApp Communities tab will be available at the top of the home screen for Android and at the bottom of the screen for iOS users. The feature will also be functional for existing groups or for newer groups that are formed after the update comes through.
Once inside the community, the users will have the entire autonomy to check through and switch between the groups to acquire important information without any hassle. Also, admins will have the option to send important notifications at a time via the community, making communication a lot more streamlined.
To ensure optimal privacy of the users, the feature will come with end-to-end encryption so that no one outside the group can view the messages. Also, it will support the broadcast option to message everyone in the group individually.
If something isn’t right in the Communities, users will have the option to block, report, or even leave the WhatsApp Communities they are in.
